The great swordsman Li Mubai is weary of the bloodshed of the underworld, and decides to put down his Green Destiny Sword in order to escape from the cycle of violence. Yu Shaolong, daughter of a Qing general, rebels against the constraints of a court life, and begins practicing martial arts under the tutelage of the notorious thief, Jade Fox. Inspired by stories of the underworld, she steals the Green Destiny Sword and takes off to find her own fate. While pursuing her, Li Mubai is impressed by Shaolong's kung fu ability. He can't bring himself to kill her, instead, he hopes to make her his student and to use her to find and take vengeance on his master's murderer, Jade Fox. Despite his intentions, the Green Destiny Sword draws enemies old and new, and returns all involved into a cycle of danger and bloodshed.
