Sun Li-ying, a female worker and mother of a deaf son, is divorced from her husband and has to shoulder the whole responsibility of bringing up her son, Zheng Da, teaching him to speak and sending him to school. However, due to his bad pronunciation, Zheng Da is refused by the school and suffers a lot from discrimination and derision from others. In order to buy an expensive hearing aid for her son, Sun Li-ying works hard, always without receiving the respect she deserves. With the help of kind and warmhearted people, Sun Li-ying finally manages to face the challenge of life and together with her son, overcomes the difficulties successfully.
