Tiger, a Unique Symbol in Chinese Painting

 

Two typical tiger painting styles

Uphill tiger paintings: the Tiger was commonly drawn in a pose that depicting it rising up. It was decorated with pine branches and moon, seemed peaceful and far-reaching without incident.

Downhill tiger paintings: the Tiger was commonly drawn in a ready-to-dive pose and was accompanied by snow rocks to highlight the tiger's power. It was believed the painting could ward off evil spirits.
