Autumn Hunting of Yuan (Dynasty) People

Commissioned by the emperor, such paintings were usually finished by the palace painters, without leaving their names on the paper.

"In the 108 year's history of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), few paintings were about Yuan people's life. Up to now, only two others are known. One is Liu Guandao's Khubilai on a Hunt, which is now in the Taipei Palace Museum, and Hunting in Yuan Dynasty, in theLiaoning Provincial Museum. This Autumn Hunting is the largest feature painting from the Yuan Dynasty. Many subjects are seen for the first time in China’s art history. For instance, women soldiers depicted are rare in ancient Chinese paintings." Said Wang Jiahui, manager of the ancient calligraphy and painting department of Beijing Poly International Acution. "That's the reason for the high value."
