They are both the best tenors in China;
They both reaped dazzling international prizes;
Yet, on their way to success were full of twist and turns;
They are Dai Yuqiang and Liang Changyong.

In June 2001, the "Top Tenors Concert" was held in the Forbidden City. Earlier in April that year, when Pavarotti came to Beijing for the upcoming concert, he heard cassette copies of Dai's voice for the first time. Pavarotti said he was stunned at that moment, unable to believe such beautiful high C notes were coming from an unknown Chinese singer. The cassette tape reminded him of his own singing, and he decided to help Dai further his career.
Ever since, Dai has received more opportunities to perform on the world opera stage and earned international fame.
In October 2003, he was the lead actor in the opera Turandot in the opera house of the American city of Portland. On July 10, 2004, Dai Yuqiang cooperated with Maria Guleghina and Samuel Ramey, world-famous singers, and successfully acted the leading role in "Tosca," one of Puccini's operas. The Royal Opera House invited him to perform Puccini's operas "Turandot" and "La Boheme" in 2004-05. In November 2004, he was the lead again in Turandot in the American Pacific Opera House. In December 2004, he went to Italy to perform the leading role in the opera "The Artist's Career," under the invitation of his teacher, Pawalodi.
