The Purple Sand Teapot

Purple sand teapots are not glazed, and they show the original beauty of the clay through the shape and structure of the pot. Purple sand clay can be found in three colors:purple, red, and milky yellow, which can either be used on their own, or mixed together to make a teapot. There are four general styles of purple sand teapot: geometric, ribbed, natural and mythical, and ancient replica. The teapots can hold anywhere from 50 grams to 50 kilograms.

How to choose the best pot for the tea?

It makes it even better when the teapot you use matches the tea you want to steep. Flat, low teapots that hold less than 200 milliliters are perfect for Tie-Kwan-yin tea, while slim, narrow teapots that hold more than 250 milliliters are suited for Pu Er and black teas. For green tea, use a pot that holds more than 250 milliliters and has a wide mouth. It's best not to steep green tea for too long, so it's good to have a teapot that cools down quickly.
