People visit the scenic spot of Crescent Lake in Dunhuang City, northwest China's Gansu Province, Aug. 30, 2012. Dunhuang, a major stop on the ancient Silk road well known for its Mogao Caves (Caves of 1,000 Buddhas), Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain, has witnessed a 40 percent increase in both tourists number and tourism industry's revenue in the first eight months in 2012 compared with the same period of last.
