Pray in spring and harvest in autumn
Ji Shan Hui is another important festival in Qiang culture. It is regarded as “pray in spring,” a prelude to the Qiang's New Year (regarded as “harvest in autumn”).
In spring, the Qiangs pray to the gods for a strong harvest and safety. It is usually held in January, August, and October in lunar calendar. Feasts to redeem vows will also be held. When October comes, the slack farming season has arrived after whole year’s effort and the Qiang pay gratitude to the heavenly god during the Qiang's New Year.
