Lei Feng Memorial

The Lei Feng Memorial, located at Lei Feng's hometown, Leifeng Township of Wangcheng County in Hunan Province, is a museum established in memory of martyr Lei Feng, a communist fighter. The memorial, one of the major historical sites under the protection of Hunan Province, was opened to the public in October 1969.

The memorial has collected 349 items of exhibits displaying in four show rooms. Among them are a group of clay sculptures, the cotton quilt used by Lei Feng's family for three generations in the old society, the mosquito net, the books he read, the diary he wrote, the farm tools he used, the clothing and stocks he wore and the deeds and photos related to Lei Feng. Also on display are the inscriptions in the original handwriting of over 20 state leaders such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Jiang Zemin, Li Peng and Yang Shangkun. The books related to Lei Feng's deeds as well as the pictures of the deeds done by the heroic figures emerging in the campaign of learning from Lei Feng are also on display.
