The Museum has a collection of 5,539 items, of which one item is the Class One collection. It is a solid gold hat used to tie up the hair unearthed from General Li Shan's tomb of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) in Mianning County of Sichuan Province. The hat, woven in gold thread and decorated with the pattern of rolled-up grass and chrysanthemums, is in rectangle shape, 5.3 cm in length, 2.7 cm in width and 31.5 grams in weight.
In 1978, the Museum held an exhibition on the special topic ofForest of Steles, a Record of Earthquakes in Xichangin Xichang City. On display are the 89 steles and 20 rubbings related to the historical facts of the earthquakes occurring in 1536 in the Ming Dynasty, and 1732 and 1850 in the Qing Dynasty respectively in the history of Xichang. So far it is the only display on the special topic of archeological earthquake in China. In 1980, it was listed as one of the major historical sites under the protection of Sichuan Province.
The Museum has also held other exhibitions such as the Unearthed Relics from Liangshan Area, the Revolutionary Relics Left by Red Army on Passing through Xichang, and the Life Story of Martyr Ding Youjun.
