The Museum covers an area of 4,220 square meters, of which 2,174 square meters are for exhibition. It has a collection of 2,100 objects, 3,359 literature articles, and 1,209 pieces of written information, most of which are historical relics related to the history of machine manufacturing and iron casting in Santiaoshi area. The collections include the complete account books from the founding of the factory during the reign of Guangxu (1875-1908) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to the liberation of Tianjin in 1949 and the earlier products and tools of the iron casting industry. The former site of Fujuxing Machinery Plant, covering a space of 631 square meters, has been reserved.
The former site of Fujuxing Machinery Plant, located in the middle section of Santiaoshi Avenue, was founded by Wang Weizhen, the proprietor, in 1926. The main products of the plant were waterwheel, oil extractor and dyer makers. The former site has reserved the original factory buildings and machines, the cashier's office, manager's office, warehouse, workshop, work shed, kitchen, lavatory and headman's office. From here it is not difficult to see the tough development of national industry, the miserable life of the workers, the simple and crude working conditions, and the backward production equipment of the machine manufacturing industry in Tianjin before the founding of the People's Republic of China. The Museum provides objects and historical data for us to study the emergence and development of the machine manufacturing industry in Tianjin.
