The Geological Exhibition Hall of Geological Institute of China National Nonferrous Industry Corporation, located at Guilin City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a museum of comprehensive geological science. It used to be the Rock Mine Sample Exhibition Room of Beijing Geological Institute of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, officially opened to the public in 1965. Later, the Beijing Geological Institute was moved to Guilin and its name was changed into the Geological Institute of China National Nonferrous Industry Corporation. After expansion, readjustment and replenishment, the name of the Exhibition Room was changed into the Geological Exhibition Hall and was reopened in 1984.
The Exhibition Hall has collected over 10,000 samples, including various kinds of deposit samples from 150 different locations, and quite a few samples of minerals and rocks, a few of which are very rare in the world.
The Exhibition Hall covers a space of 450 square meters, divided into five exhibition rooms, namely, the Mineral Resource Exhibition Room, Mineral Exhibition Room, Rock Exhibition Room, Mineral Deposit Exhibition Room and Precious Stone Exhibition Room. On display are more than 2,000 samples and pictures of various kinds of minerals, rocks and ores. The rare samples include diamond, emerald, crystal, stibnite, malachite, azurite, chalcopyrite crystal, and the samples from the mines of Xikuang Mountain, Xihua Mountain, Gejiu, Dachang, Jinchuan, Baiyun Ebo, Dexing and Wanshan Mountain.
