'La La Land' wins five BAFTAS, including Best Film

This year's British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), or the UK's equivalent of the Oscars, were unveiled on Sunday night in London.

Mega hit La La Land led the list of nominees with 11 nominations, and it won five awards, including Best Film, Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Director for Damien Chazelle.

Casey Affleck, brother of Ben Affleck, was named Best Actor for his performance in Manchester by the Sea. American actress Viola Davis went home with the award of Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in Fences, while British actor Dev Patel has won the prize of Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the movie Lion.

Some of Hollywood's biggest names were also in attendance at this year's BAFTA awards, including Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman. The British royalty also made an appearance, with Prince William and wife Kate Middleton attending the ceremony.
