The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is surely the most important celebration of the year. It doesn't only mean a country-wide party, but the opportunity for families to meet and celebrate together sharing their stories and experiences.
I am a student from Argentina, and I was excited to be in China to spend Spring Festival following the local traditions and culture.
As this was my first Chinese New Year living in China, I decided to explore and discover the magic of this festival. Despite visitingthe Chinatown in my country during Spring Festival, I realized that China was, of course, going to offer something bigger and moreimpressive.

The New Year feeling starts a few weeks earlier, when most public places get decorated with red lamps and beautiful signs. The entrance to neighborhoods and houses show red banners with golden characters expressing good luck and prosperity. On the street, shops and supermarkets they play typical festival music, which makes everyone's spirit feel happy.
