After the New Year's Eve dinner, it is time to watch the Spring Festival Gala. Sometimes we watch it while having dinner too. Spring Festival Gala is a grand show held by CCTV. For every year since 1983, people have gathered in front of their television at 8pm to watch the Spring Festival Gala. This show always last four to five hours. There are a lot of excellent acts during this gala, many famous celebrities perform on the stage and it brings laughter to every Chinese family. As the Spring Festival Gala has been held for more than 30 years, its value has gone far beyond that of a variety show; it has become an essential part of Spring Festival. According to the statistics, there were more than seven hundred million people watching the Spring Festival Gala on Lunar New Year's Eve. Actually we do not just watch the programs, our whole family sits together watching TV, eating some snacks and talking. It is the best time of the year.
Another critical thing is "wearing new cloths". Spring Festival is the beginning of the Lunar New Year and it is the traditional custom to wear new cloths on the first day of the Chinese New Year, especially for kids. New cloths represent a new beginning. Parents prepare new clothes before the Spring Festival. When the kids wake up on New Year's morning they dress up in their new cloths and say some good words like "happy new year" or "wish you happy every day" to their parents and grandparents, then they will get a red envelope from them. I still remember the happiness when I put on the new cloths on New Year's Day, I even compared them with my little friends whose new cloths were more beautiful. It is the most happy time for kids.
Spring Festival is the most critical festival for Chinese people, different regions have different celebrations. What I said above is my family's Spring Festival, it is full of warmth and happiness.
